Microsoft has deployed Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 2, and Windows 2003 Service Pack 1. This browser has many new security features which can cause compatibility issues for some Web applications and sites. Niagara Navigator encounters a few of these issues as listed below. As an alternative to deploying each individual change, several issues can be rectified by adding http://navigator.yourniagara.ca/navigator to a Trusted Site in Internet Explorer 7’s security settings. By adding Niagara Navigator as a trusted site, the following issues will be resolved:
To add Niagara Navigator as a Trusted Site, follow these steps:

To resolve individual issues, please refer to the list below.
Internet Explorer 7 limits the ability of Web pages to use scripts to write information in the status bar. This ability is restricted by default in the Internet zone and is subject to user-configurable settings in security zones. This helps prevent attackers from leveraging those methods to spoof the status bar.
To revert to previous behavior and allow Niagara Navigator to write map coordinates and the scale factor to the status bar, follow these steps:

“Phishing” is a form of Internet fraud that aims to steal valuable information such as credit cards, social security numbers, user IDs and passwords. A fake website is created that is similar to that of a legitimate organization, typically a financial institution such as a bank or insurance company. An email is sent requesting that the recipient access the fake website (which will usually be a replica of a trusted site) and enter their personal details, including security access codes. The page looks genuine, because it is easy to fake a valid web site. Any HTML page on the web can be modified to suit a phishing scheme.
In Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has implemented Anti-Phishing technology and instituted several changes to the browser. One such change is that every IE window that opens from the Web will have a mini Address bar on it. This Address bar will help users verify the origin of such pop-up windows and help them make a trust decision to avoid phishing.

To revert to previous behavior and remove the address bar from all Internet Explorer windows, follow these steps:

In Internet Explorer 7 the window.prompt script method is blocked and the gold Information bar is displayed by default in the Internet Zone. This was employed by Microsoft to help prevent websites from spoofing things such as the logon screens of other websites. This is a new security enhancement for Internet Explorer 7.The Buffer Point tool uses the window.prompt script to open the dialog where users enter their buffer distance.
To revert to previous behavior and enable the Buffer Point tool, follow these steps:

In Internet Explorer 7 several modifications have been made to printing. One such change is that any print job from Internet Explorer 7 will be set to the new "Shrink to Fit" option, which lets you fit pages, both vertically and horizontally, onto a single page whenever possible. Other changes include the ability to easily switch between portrait and landscape printing modes as well as removing all header and footer text. It should be noted, however, that none of these changes are apparent unless the Print Preview option is used.
Because of the “Shrink to Fit” printing that is on by default in Internet Explorer 7, printing using the print tool in the fixed toolbar (which launches the page setup dialog) is not using the full space on the print page.
To rectify this problem follow the newly revised steps provided with the tool – ensure that you are using the Print Preview to set the page size and orientation.
